Wow cool.
I realy love this game. I have the card game and I really love it. The AI already killed me one time. Realy fun to play. Sadly only for one player. |

Vend, teach me how to be good at this game! I seem to be struggling completely, even after these tutorials.

Yes. Race for the galaxy is a little more complex. I have also the feeling that the AI is quite well trained. I have not yet won a game.
Though I have to say I only played the card game for 4 times till now with some friends. I just got it last month. From playing against the AI I noticed that they very aggressively go for the victory points given by the consume action. If you have the Card that gives you 2 VP for a resource. If you choose the double VP option this gives you a nice bonus there. I was till now always playing a set route. Means trying to go for Rebel Worlds and Developments. Or going the mining branch. But in the end you are also very luck based. And as I said.. the AI plays on a quite good level for me. I have still to beat it, though last time I lost with only 2 points. The game definitely lacks a multiplayer option. Not sure if Rio Grande would allow that. The Card game itself has also a solitaire variant in the first expansion. It’s a manually operated robot. Working quite well for some nice little games there. When I have new Ideas I will post them up here. |

Ok .. I have now 7 new games under my belt and won the first two time. I won them with good cards (luck) and a fairly balanced strategy, but targeting for VPs.
Well lost the last 3 games where I tried the same. Its a lot of luck, and the AI is optimised to win with VPs. I seldom had a match ending on 12 Cards played, but most times on no VPs are left. Sadly there is no UI Element that shows you how many VP chips are left. |

From over at BoardGameGeek, the dev posted the following info http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/438698/race-for-the-galaxy-ai/page/37 Sorry it's a bit late (kept finding too many serious bugs), but I've released the latest version (0.7.0). I'll call it "beta" quality, since there are several known bugs: * Alien Oort Cloud Refinery is broken in many ways (doesn't score correctly with several 6-devs or some goals, doesn't interact correctly with some Produce powers that draw cards, etc). * Imperium Invasion Fleet may not work correctly during takeovers. Actually, everything about takeovers needs to be thoroughly tested. * Some other rare cases (such as Terraforming Engineers' complex interactions with takeovers). * Some of the AI neural nets for the Brink of War are only partially-trained; the AI performance in big games is way too slow and takes weeks to train. I'll need to fix that both so that players won't have to wait and to improve training speed. As mentioned earlier, the other big feature in this release is online multiplayer. I've got a server running on my machine here -- there's an option to connect to it under the "Network" menu at the top. Hopefully it's pretty self-explanatory. I'll be sitting in the lobby chat to give out help if needed. I expect the server to crash often during the next few days while bugs get worked out -- I'll do my best to fix it and get it back up ASAP. Edited by Fade - 03/Aug/2010 at 08:06 |

I must say the new UI is a bit of an improvement. Well worth getting the new version, even with its known bugs.

Oh nice. I have to check it out tonight.
Though I don't play with the expansions yet. It gets far more complex with the second expansion. It makes it possible to attack other military worlds and capture them from another player. But as said, I did not play it yet, and don't have the rules of it down. Just scanned through the rule book some weeks ago. Multi player though is a real cool feature. |
