LEGENDS - GUILD CHARTER
Welcome to the Legends gaming community.

This group began as a guild in the MMO Dungeons and Dragons online, the aims and goals of that guild were many, but one thing stood out. The desire to have fun playing games. Well we had so much fun that when some of us moved on to another game, we took the guild, and our ethos with us.

We’ve branched out into over 10 mmo’s and several other online games since then, and we’re still going strong, but that first ideal remains our central tenet. Enjoy yourself in the company of others.

In order to ensure that we achieve that, each chapter of the guild will have it’s own rules, rules which are appropriate to that game and group. Rules that are informed by our guiding ethos, our “mission statement” if you like for our community.

That statement can be found below.

Mission.

The Legends will be a place of enjoyment for all levels of participants. To that end, players and officers are encouraged to work together to achieve goals.

You contribute as much or as little as you want to the running of things. Want to organise a group? Do it, want to arrange an event, do it. Our officers are there to help with all of this, and to run things themselves, officers are the “admin” core of the guild.

Fairness equals fun.

No-one is having fun if they feel they are being ripped off or scammed. So please, treat every situation with equanimity, don’t take too much for yourself from guild resources, don’t be a loot whore, if you see these things, have a quiet word with an officer.

Don’t make life hard.

Seriously, if you’re a bully or a greifer, then you have no place here. If you’re having a bad day, that’s fair enough, but if it’s mentioned to you; back away and cool down, don’t go off, or you’ll end up being booted. No one comes to a game to get yelled at. And while you might be locked in the privacy of your bedroom this is a little window to the world, and people can see you. Don’t make anyone elses life harder by your actions.

Free stuff is fun.

Everyone likes getting free stuff. No one likes being constantly hassled for free stuff. It’s not a difficult equation.

Legends on the whole are generous players, they will give you stuff, they will let you have stuff dirt cheap. Legends WON’T rip you off, or they wont be Legeds very long. But likewise, don’t repeatedly pester people for stuff. If there something you need, mention it, maybe pop a post up about it. Don’t spam everyone, /tell everyone post and post and post. It’s annoying J

Play with each other.
(Ooer.)

While we all like to solo sometimes, it’s always more fun to play with others, so try and make every opportunity to do so. It’s what we’re her for after all.

Ad hoc groups and planned groups can both be great fun.

Act your age.
(or if you’re 5 years old.. don’t)

This is a largely mature community, so expect it a bit of swearing and the odd naughty comment. There. You’ve been warned.

But like all things this has two edges, don’t rant and swear incessantly in guild, yes we’re all adults, but no-one likes to hear that.

Unless it’s funny.

If you’re a very bad *….
(*boy, girl, thing)

Then you’ll be punished. If we do have to resort to draconian measures to benefit the majority we will. I’d rather have a chat and sort out any issues but at the end of the day we will ban, boot suspend and otherwise enforce the peace. We haven’t had to do it often, but we have done it and will.

Playing a role.

On the whole the guild is light rp. Some games that isn’t practical, but in most we can manage to be IC in all spatial chat and OOC in all private chat. /gu channels tend to dip in and out.

POST!

The forum is the heart of the community.

It’s where groups are organised, friendships made, opinions shared and plans made.

Celebrations and recriminations all fall on the forum, please please please use them.

In times when we are too busy to get ingame we can still stay in touch here. We aren’t joking when we call this a community, and these forums are it’s home.

Each guild chapter will have its own more specific rules than these, so please read the relevant game chapter’s stickies in the forums.
