LEGENDS NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2008=================================November has seen a consolidation of our Chapters, with a forum tidy up, to make sure our active chapters recieve maximum focus. The Bad news seems to suggest that our Age of Conan Chapter is in its last death throes, but on a more positive note, our LOTRO Chapter has been blessed with the Mines of Moria expansion. Thanks again to our Chapter leaders and other contributors who have submitted their content to be used with this newsletter.

KeeperSince the last newsletter edition the legends of dungeons and dragons set up an event based on drinking mysterious potions and awating your fate.
I did try to screen videos of this, although the quality up on the net isnt exactly good, sorry.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-d9f-Ss054http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI2ZwzUZLsg&feature=relatedOf course, if any knowledgable people out there want to spread their knowledge on how to document things better, all legends stick together you know ;)
Recent other activity included heading towards tombs and clearing them of bad, which proves challenging. More events are approaching and in discussion for the near future, along with the return of questkeeper. I know that DDO is facing new things soon, so I thought it wise to look back upon what we have for a moment too, it was not long ago we got monks,

and although I myself have not tried monks past level 4, many other people have, and they are settled into the game as good fighters. Also, the changes to three barrell cove cannot be forgotten.

I will end on congratulations to smelt , for he is now old.

Faerdhinen/Malvalion, Bainwen, Firianna/Firelily, Thiraury, Ephrandir/ThlimIt has been a memorable month for the LOTRO Chapter, with the release of the Mines of Moria expansion on the 18th November.

The beginning of November saw Shaaliel running her now Legendary Bookworm days, with Bookworm Saturday seeing the group polish off the Epic books 12 and 13, with an attempt made at Book 14.
Ephrandir/Thlim organised a Legends Rift Raid with a few members from our Alliance with Baruk Khazad. After an initial slow start, with a couple of wipes - the raid moved on to Thrang with little or no noticeable opposition. Spanning a weekend, the raid resumed on Sunday and the raid group burned through Thrang, with the whole party eager to lay his dark soul to rest forever.
Bork(Baro) has started organising adventure groups throughout the level ranges of our players, so no matter how far you've progressed, there'll be a time for some organised questing. With the advent of Moria, we have a number of people creating Warden and Runekeeper alts, so now is a really good time to dive in with us..
With the Moria expansion opened up to us all, we saw a rekindling of our enthusiasm, exploring through Eregion, and its open landscape, some keen attempts on the Libraries and halls where the darkness now dwells, along with our help given freely to the distraught dwarves trying to break back into Moria and discover the whereabouts of their expeditions and Balin himself.

As you take your first steps towards Moria, you are treat to the history of the demise of the Halls of the Mountain King, and you can sample it from the perspective of a dwarven footsoldier.

Stepping into Durins palace, and finally being forced to flee from the most sinister of ancient evil.

Once inside of Moria, the adventure and exploration begin...

Exploring the new Legendary weapon system itself is very much an adventure, learning to tweak and level your weapons alongside you.. they suddenly become very personal to us all (especially when you can name your weapon).
Meldigahn organised an excursion into The Forgotten Treasury deep within Menem Berwej south of Deep Descent. With usual Legendary prowess the Forgotten Treasury was liberated. Congratulations goes out to Meldigahn for being the first Legend to attain level 60!
A big welcome to the newcomers to our Kinship, namely, Chicoria, Knutrog, Wensbane and Jixi.
Things are looking good for the LOTRO Chapter, with expeditions deeper into Moria in the planning.

May the light of the Moon protect you all.

Not much happened the last month, or at least not much that I'm aware of ;)
Real life took away quite a chunk of playing time, but the guild has managed to make it's way to level 15 (and beyond) and we are now able to show the guild colours on our cloaks. The emblem will have to wait until we're level 20, but even with just the colors, the cloak has become much more interesting.
We still seem to be attracting new players, even though we're not exactly actively recruiting. So far, most people have also stayed and continued to play, which I think is a good sign of the state of the game. Of course there are negatives, but we seem to be able to work around quite a few of them as a guild. With the growing of the guild, we've also added the first of several new officers, so I would (once again) like to welcome Ianthe (aka witchking on the forum) as an officer =)
Also, Delta seems to have gone missing in action for now, which has caused the friday night empire static to be in limbo for a while. Fortunately, Helvie was kind enough to pick up the reigns and continue the static. The racial limitations have been removed now that they static is gaining entry into tier 2, so expect to see more of them each friday.
The biggest bit of news is probably the fact that we've joined an alliance. It's called "The Secret Alliance", and consists of Secret Society, Sigmarian Vanguard, Sanctus Espiritus and ourselves. We recently had out first alliance wide event when we visited Gunbad, and it was plenty fun. We'll be working actively on promoting grouping with alliance members and inviting them for events.
I would also like to mention that our Destruction chapter has moved from Makaisson to Alarielle. Unfortunately Makaisson was heavily underpopulated, and the once character transfers became available, the decision to move to Alarielle was finalized. Guild leader there is Aircool, so feel free to get in touch with him on Alarielle for a guild invite.
That leaves me only with a little screenshot of how our cloak presently looks, and a quick mention that the next newsletter might be Knight of the Blazing Sun heavy ;)

HyrkaniaReport from AnnastesiaLegends of Hyrkania chapter is, sadly, dead. Yes, we still have our city, our nice walls, our temple, our trade post, our everything… but, as the whole game seemed to be going downhill fast, the biggest guilds decided to group together into a new guild to at least try to have their playing time together, and have some fun, and try to redress the situation.
The new guild, to which all Legends are welcome, is Hyrkanian Alliance. So Legends does exist, as there are some alt characters still there to keep the name going, and our town alive. But it is a placeholder guild now, mainly.
RIP AoC!

ChimeraThe Star Wars Galaxies chapter is dormant. Our town hall and bank and plaza have all disappeared. So Rorthrar (Annastesia’s secondary character) will have to try to place new ones to make our town a whole town again! (Annastesia has no more free building spaces)
Not sure if he will be able to do that by himself.
Fantasy Grounds (FG)Chapter Leader:
FoenThe official Chaosium Call of Cthulhu ruleset was launched at the beginning of the month, marking a significant milesetone for the development team and a return (almost) to sensible playing-hours for Foen. Next up: Rolemaster Classic.
FG2 Star WarsDM:
VorflynnVorflynn concluded an epic adventure involving time-travel, double-crossing Sith (how dare they!) and just about everyone meeting their own ancestors: brilliantly handled.
Coming Soon:Annastesia is working on a ruleset for Pendragon, and hopes to run one-shot adventures between other campaigns, while Foen is limbering up for the next outing in the Withered Lands series: he says its a good'un but its not clear how Willau's character, Valha, will survive the trauma of losing her niece in such a bloody and gruesome fashion in the last adventure.
The WL3 adventure starts in the New Year.
